Type 1 Recycled is a mixture of 40mm crushed concrete including; concrete brick and tarmac. Type 1 Recycled sub base is one of the few tested recycled materials. It it tested in compliance for the Ministry of Transport specification clause SHW 803, which is the same specification as Type 1 primary.

It is usually a cheaper alternative to Primary Type 1 and can be used for; sub bases, hard standings, pathways, driveways, haul roads and tracks. One of the downsides to recycled sub base materials is that they can look quite muddy when laid unlike Type 1 primary granite or limestone.
