Landscaping & Decorative Gravels Pre Pack

We currently stock four main decorative chipping colours in 20KG pre pack bags: Black Ice (deep black), Flamingo (pink-red), Ice Blue (blue-grey) and White Chippings (bright white). We also stock 25KG bags of natural 10mm and 20mm Shingle. These cover most landscaping styles from modern minimalist to traditional English gardens. For larger projects or other colours, we can source additional decorative aggregates on request - call 01635 865679 to enquire.

As a rough guide, for decorative coverage at 40-50mm depth, 1 tonne of 20mm chippings covers approximately 12-14 square metres. A 20KG bag covers roughly 0.25 square metres at this depth. For driveways we recommend 50mm depth minimum. For borders, pots and planters you can go lighter. If you need to cover more than about 10-15 square metres, it's usually more economical to order a bulk bag or loose tipped load. Call us and we'll help you calculate the right quantity.

Black Ice Chippings are a premium deep black decorative aggregate ideal for modern, minimalist and contemporary garden designs. Flamingo Chippings are a distinctive pink-red decorative aggregate that adds warmth and character to garden landscaping. They're particularly popular for Mediterranean-style gardens, feature borders, pots and planters, and anywhere a splash of colour is wanted. The natural variation in tone from pale pink through to deeper red-pink gives an attractive, natural appearance that weathers beautifully over time. Available in 20KG pre pack bags.

Ice Blue is a striking blue-grey decorative chipping perfect for contemporary garden designs, water features, coastal-themed gardens and modern driveways. The cool blue tones pair beautifully with silver-foliage plants, slate paving and water. It's one of our most popular decorative gravels for homeowners creating a calm, modern outdoor space. Supplied in 20KG pre pack bags convenient for small projects and large areas alike.

20mm White Chippings provide a bright, clean finish that reflects light and makes small areas feel larger and more open. They're ideal for borders, pots, driveways, around pools and for creating crisp contrast with green planting or dark paving. Unlike coloured chippings, white shows dirt and algae over time - we recommend pairing with a weed membrane and occasional washing to keep them looking their best. Supplied in 20KG pre pack bags.

10mm Shingle is a finer, smoother aggregate ideal for decorative paths, pot toppings, drainage around pipes and fine borders where a softer underfoot feel is preferred. 20mm Shingle is larger and more versatile - commonly used for driveways (where the larger stones resist displacement), decorative coverage over wider areas and general landscaping. For driveways we usually recommend 20mm. Both are natural golden-brown shingle supplied in 25KG pre pack bags.

Yes - we always recommend visiting our Thatcham yard to see the actual colours in person before making a decision. Decorative gravels can look quite different in natural daylight compared to photos on a screen, and the scale of the stone can be easier to judge when you see it. Yes - we offer local delivery of pre pack gravel bags throughout Berkshire, North Hampshire and Southern Oxfordshire. Delivery is ideal for larger orders or when you don't have transport suitable for collection. For very large landscaping projects, we also supply decorative chippings in bulk bags or loose tipped loads, which work out considerably more cost-effective per tonne. Yes - we strongly recommend laying a quality weed membrane under all decorative gravel, particularly on driveways and large borders. A membrane prevents weeds from growing up through the gravel, stops the gravel from sinking into the soil over time, and makes future maintenance much easier. Pin the membrane securely at the edges and overlap joins by at least 150mm. A small investment in membrane now saves significant time and cost on weeding and topping-up later.

Yes - for larger projects, our decorative chippings and shingle are also available in bulk bags and loose tipped loads, which offer much better value per tonne than pre pack bags. If you're covering more than around 15-20 square metres, bulk is almost always more economical.
