What is 6F5 Recycled?
6F5 recycled is an 80mm-to-dust (0/80mm) crush and run recycled aggregate made from crushed bricks, concrete and occasionally asphalt. Well graded from large pieces down to fines, it compacts to a strong, stable base, making it a practical, cost-effective material for sub-bases, temporary haul roads, piling mats and building up site levels. It is sometimes referred to as 6F2, although this is mostly incorrect as 6F2 is a larger crushed concrete.
What is 6F5 Recycled used for?
- Sub-bases and capping layers on construction sites
- Temporary haul roads and site access tracks
- Piling mats and heavy-traffic areas
- Building up and levelling ground
- General bulk fill where robust support is needed
Why choose 6F5 Recycled?
Because of its coarse 0/80mm sizing and uncertified recycled nature, 6F5 recycled is a cost-effective alternative to scalpings. It is often laid on sites to carry heavy traffic during works, then lifted at the end of the job so the roads can be finished properly with a Type 1 Primary or Type 1 Recycled. As a recycled product it also helps divert construction waste from landfill and reduces demand for primary aggregate.

6F5 Recycled FAQs
What size is 6F5 recycled?
6F5 recycled is graded 0/80mm — a crush and run mix running from 80mm pieces down to dust, which allows it to compact into a firm, stable base.
Is 6F5 the same as 6F2?
No. 6F5 is sometimes wrongly called 6F2, but 6F2 is a larger crushed concrete. If you need a specific grading, let us know and we will confirm what suits your job.
Is 6F5 recycled cheaper than scalpings?
Yes. Its coarse sizing and uncertified recycled nature make it a lower-cost alternative to scalpings, which is why it is popular for temporary haul roads and heavy-traffic site areas.
Can I use 6F5 recycled as a permanent sub-base?
6F5 is often used as a working surface or temporary base and then finished with a Type 1 Primary or Type 1 Recycled sub-base for the final road. For a certified sub-base, a Type 1 material is the better choice.
