40mm Recycled Shingle is made from crushed concrete, brick and reclaimed gravel. The material is usually angular due do it being crushed and screened during the recycling process. Like "rejects" it is very good for drainage and is ideal for use in soakaways.  It also has the added benefit of being environmentally friendly as it is a recycled gravel. Unlike 40mm primary gravel it is often not tested to British Standards, which means if an architect has specified a BS material it will not conform. It can also be used as a cheaper alternative to 40mm limestone in bases for manèges (ménages) and riding arenas.
