What is Hardwood Play Chip?
5 - 30mm Hardwood play chip meeting BS EN 1177. It is a premium safety surface made from durable hardwood trees. This certified material offers a longer lifespan than softwood alternatives and is cheaper than bark alternatives. Loose tipped delivery suits playgrounds requiring large quantities. 1m3 is the equivalent of 2 bulk bags.
Why choose hardwood chip?
Whilst higher in initial cost, this is offset by longevity of the material. Hardwood play chip lasts around 3-5 years before it needs to be topped up or replaced where as softwood and basic woodchip only last 2-3 years.
Where to use Hardwood Play Chip?
Ideal for busy playgrounds requiring durable safety surfacing. Perfect for schools and parks with high usage. Excellent where maintenance access limited. Suitable for play areas prioritising appearance with a balance of cost.
Extra Information
Install to depths specified for critical fall heights. Natural colour variation occurs due to different species mixed together. It is recommended you put membrane beneath the area you are installing the play chip.

Chippings can be used for pathways and other decorative purposes. Light in colour compared to play bark.
There is a 1 cubic meter / 1m3 minimum delivery on this product. 1m3 is around 500Kg in weight and the equivalent of 2 x bulk bags in volume. This material is supplied loose tipped however for larger quantities we can offer it by the bulk bag.
We deliver this loose in bulk 30m3 loads or smaller quantities as low as 1m3. We deliver our wood chipping products to Thatcham, Newbury, Reading and all the surrounding towns and villages around Berkshire, North Hampshire and Southern Oxfordshire.
