Type 1 MOT is a sub-base. It is a crushed limestone or granite aggregate. It is graded a 0 - 32mm or 0 - 40mm size. It is usually a grey or pink colour although where it's a natural stone we can't choose which colour we supply.

Mot Type 1 sub base is often called different names such as D.O.T. (Department of Transport) or M.O.T. (Ministry of Transport) Type 1. For the material to be called "Type 1" it must conform to the Ministry of Transport specification clause SHW 803. MOT Type 1 can often be confused with Scalpings but they are different products. Due to its controlled fines(dust) content, it has a slightly better load bearing capacity than Scalpings making it the ideal product for; highways / roads, driveways, patio, paths, car parks, tracks, hard-standings and lots of other construction and landscape projects.

Mot type 1 aggregate conforms to BS EN 13285 categories for unbound mixture properties this partially means it still performs under harsh weather conditions. If you are putting in a new drive it is best to check that you do not have to use a permeable sub base material such as MOT Type 3 to conform with current legislation around drainage.

This material is supplied loose tipped however for larger quantities we can offer it by the bulk bag. We can offer delivery on artic loads of 29 tonnes, as well as using our own smaller fleet of vehicles starting from as low as 0.5 tonne all the way to 11 tonnes on our 4 wheelers. We deliver our Type 1 aggregate to Thatcham, Newbury, Reading and all the surrounding towns and villages around Berkshire, North Hampshire and Southern Oxfordshire.

Trade rates are available over the phone or via email.
