What is Hoggin?
Hoggin is the original self-binding gravel. It is an unwashed / unprocessed raw material containing a mix of stones, sand, and clay. Where it this is unprocessed the stones can be over 100mm in size. This traditional surface material compacts to form solid pathways without additional binders. Loose tipped delivery keeps material in the best condition whilst in transit.
What composition is Hoggin?
Natural as dug material there is no true composition of this material. It typically contains 55% gravel, 30% sand, and 15% clay. The colour varies by source but typically brown/orange tones.
Where to use Hoggin?
Traditional choice for rural paths, bridleways, and country estate roads. Perfect for heritage properties requiring authentic surfaces. Suitable for equestrian use being kind to hooves. Ideal where natural, surface required.
Extra Information
Requires proper cambering for drainage. Initial rolling and watering essential. Becomes increasingly firm with use. May become dusty in drought or muddy in prolonged rain.
