What is Building Sand?

BS EN 13139 Building sand, also known as soft sand or bricklayers sand, is fine-graded sand specifically for mortar production. This washed sand provides smooth, workable mortar for bricklaying and pointing. Loose tipped delivery ensures fresh supply for construction projects. There are different types and colours pf sand available please ask us for more information. 

What grade is Building Sand?

Fine graded 0-2mm providing smooth texture essential for workable mortar. Washed to remove impurities affecting mortar performance. Consistent grading ensures predictable mortar properties and professional results.

Where to use Building Sand?

Essential for bricklaying mortar, pointing, and rendering work. Perfect for laying blocks and stone. Not suitable for concrete production due to fine grade. Ideal where smooth, easily worked mortar required for detailed work.

Extra Information

The colour and coarseness varies by region from red to yellow. Store dry to prevent contamination. Building sand is different to sharp sand.

There is a 1 tonne minimum delivery on this product. This material is supplied loose tipped however for other larger quantities we can offer it by the bulk bag (minimum 10 bags). We can offer this in 20 tonne loads and 28 tonne artic loads.

We deliver this loose in bulk 11 tonnes loads or smaller quantities as low as 1 tonne. We deliver high quality Building Sand to Thatcham, Newbury, Reading and all the surrounding towns and villages around Berkshire, North Hampshire and Southern Oxfordshire.
