What is South Cerney Gravel 20mm?
South Cerney gravel is soft rounded oolitic limestone in 10-20mm screened, featuring characteristic cream/buff colouring. As noted in your materials, this is one of the most popular decorative gravels available. Loose tipped delivery provides bulk supply for driveways and landscaping. Please note we get our material from one specific source meaning it can be more expensive than some other suppliers. We can supply cheaper South Cerney but cannot guarantee the colour in that instance.
What makes South Cerney special?
The oolitic limestone structure creates a unique colour - it is softer and more porous than other gravels. Gradually binds together over time creating a rustic effect. The material is a uniform cream/buff/yellow colouring and provides a warm, welcoming appearance.
Where to use 20mm South Cerney?
Perfect for driveways and parking areas where character matters. Excellent for horses and animals due to rounded, softer nature. Complements red brick houses beautifully. Works well with dark grey edging stones or slabs for contrast.
Extra Information
Being porous, may turn green/black in damp, low-light areas. Breaks down slowly and binds naturally - some love this effect, others prefer regular topping up. Also known as Thames Beige, Oxford Stone, or incorrectly as Cotswold stone. This material needs more maintenance than harder gravels but is unique in colour.
