What is 10mm South Cerney Gravel?

A 4-10mm grade of South Cerney, it is a soft rounded oolitic limestone gravel featuring
cream/buff/yellow colouring. It is one of the most popular decorative gravels, ideal for paths, flower beds and other areas requiring a finer texture than 20mm.

What are the characteristics?

Rounded oolitic limestone structure makes it softer than flint gravels. Even colouring in warm cream/buff tones. More comfortable for walking and kinder to animals than angular stones. Naturally binds over time due to limestone properties. Due to it's soft nature we don't recommend this for poor light areas that get damp as it discolours very quickly due to the porous nature of the material.

Where to use 10mm South Cerney?

Primarily for decorative paths, walkways, and detailed landscaping. Excellent for horses and pets due to soft, rounded nature. Perfect complement to red brick houses. Works beautifully with dark grey edging for contrast. Suitable where finer grade preferred.

Extra Information

Softer material may need topping up more than flint gravels. Can develop green/black colouring in damp shade. Binding effect creates rustic character over time. Also known as Thames Beige or Oxford Stone.
