What size is Horticultural Grit?

Typically 1-4mm angular particles creating excellent drainage while maintaining some moisture. Larger than standard sand but finer than pea gravel. Silver-grey colour from granite origin adds aesthetic appeal.

Where to use Silver Sand?

Essential for alpine and cacti composts requiring sharp drainage. Perfect for improving heavy clay soils and preventing waterlogging. Ideal for top dressing pots and deterring slugs. Excellent for ericaceous plant requirements.

Lime-free nature crucial for acid-loving plants. Angular shape creates lasting air pockets in soil. Won't break down like organic improvers. Use 20-30% in compost mixes. Also suitable for pointing and brush-in applications.

There is a 1 Bulk bag minimum (800KG) delivery on this product. This material is supplied in bulk bags for small quantities however for larger quantities we can offer it by the bulk bag and loose tipped. 

We deliver this loose in bulk 28 tonne loads or smaller quantities as low as 1 bag. We deliver our wood chipping products to Thatcham, Newbury, Reading and all the surrounding towns and villages around Berkshire, North Hampshire and Southern Oxfordshire.
